Swedish Medical Center Senior Medical Assistant - Ambulatory Behavioral Health in Seattle, Washington

Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Senior Medical Assistant (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Ambulatory Behavioral Health at the Ballard Clinic in Seattle, WA.

The Senior Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with and providing patient care, under the supervision of a practitioner. They will serve as a mentor and resource to Medical Assistants and other office staff by providing support, guidance and training as needed.

In this position you will:

  • Responsible for scheduling procedures and/or services needed by making arrangements with departments; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms

  • Responsible for the daily operations and planning of workflow for the clinic support staff to ensure that all team members know what their priorities

  • Responsible for training new hires and/or cross-training employees from other areas of the department, as needed

  • Greet and prepare patients for the practitioner; obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem. Perform sight and hearing tests as indicated

  • Arrange for patient testing, referrals and/or hospital admission under direction of the provider

  • Schedule patient appointments and perform other clerical duties as needed

  • Epic super-user providing support for end users with their daily workflows in department; attend regularly scheduled super-user meetings as a department liaison

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of a certified medical assistant program

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

  • Certified Medical Assistant in Washington State

  • Ability to travel to other clinics as needed

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail

Demonstrated PC skills, i.e. proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Must possess basic knowledge of medications and their use, to include brand and generic names

+

Prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Min 5 years experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting

  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferably EPIC
